REINIS NITIŠS TO COMPETE IN HOME ROUND OF WORLD RX

JĒKABPILS, LATVIA
01/08/2019

Reinis Nitišs will participate in the Latvian round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, taking place on September 14 and 15 in CSDD Biķernieki Circuit. Similarly, to how he did in Abu Dhabi and Sweden, the Jēkabpils native will join GRX team drivers Niclas Grönholm and Timur Timerzyanov in a Hyundai i20 Supercar.

“This season, I had envisioned to compete in couple events, which would make it possible to fulfil my development driver duties to the best of my abilities while also getting valuable racing experience and maintaining my driving skills. Before the season, we made the initial plan with events I wanted to compete the most – Abu Dhabi, which hosted the first round in a completely new circuit; Sweden, which is one of the most anticipated events of the season, with lots of Latvian fans in attendance; and Latvia, my home event, which, if skipped, would ask the question of why I am doing any World RX events at all.

Due to various circumstances, both the number of events and the particular events themselves could have changed. We felt this after the first round in Abu Dhabi, with the unlucky turn of events made the first corrections to my season plan – at that point, it was clear that I would not be able to compete in more than three rounds this year. It did not get much better after the Sweden event either. At the same time, since the addition of Latvia to the World RX calendar, it has been the most important event of the year for me! Regardless of how the season goes, I could not miss competing in Latvia, especially when this could be the final year, we see World RX here in Biķernieki! So today I am happy to announce that we have managed to finalize everything so I can invite you to Biķernieki to support me in the battle to get into the semi-final. And knowing rallycross – once I get there, anything can happen!” says the two-time European Rallycross Champion, Reinis Nitišs.
