Today, in Cape Town – 13657 km from Jēkabpils – the final round of the 2017 FIA World Rallycross Championship, Gumtree World RX of South Africa, began with the first two qualifying heats. Reinis Nitišs was thirteenth in Q1, and had a technical problem in Q2, posting the twentieth best time, which put him nineteenth overall after day one.

“Today, we all got our first real impressions of the new track. Even though it is interesting and has overtaking spots, my first day in Cape Town was far from perfect. In Q1, both me and teammate Heikkinen lost time battling each other, while Q2 was even worse – on the first lap, I damaged the front right tire and spun, then having to complete the rest of the heat on three tires. I hope that tomorrow is much better, so I can conclude the season on a good note!” comments Reinis Nitišs after day one.
